Question: What is a GRID IRON wall panel?
Answer: It is a 48" wide x 81" high panel of cold rolled steel with roll formed continuous horizontal channels spaced every 1" on center. The panel is attached to a 1" square steel tube frame and spot welded vertically every 1" to the frame. The welded panel is powdercoated bright silver for a durable lifetime finish.

Question: Are other sizes and colors available?
Answer: Yes. GRID IRON has the capability of manufacturing a panel to any size specifications up to 60" wide. We also have over 1000 different powdercoat colors available from several paint suppliers. There may be an additional charge for the variations in size and color depending on volume ordered. Answer: Approximately 86# each

Question: How much weight can a GRID IRON panel system hold?
Answer: The system meets or exceeds the requirements of the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1286 specifications.

Using these standards to determine capacity, the GRID IRON Laminated Wood Shelf (22" deep) will hold 150#, the Metal Shelf (9" deep) will hold 43#, the Metal Tray (7" deep) will hold 20# and the GRID IRON panel will hold any and all combinations of the loaded shelves and trays.

Question: What is included in a GRID IRON Panel System Kit?
Answer: We have four (4) types of Panel System Kits to help you get started or if you wish, you can buy individual GRID IRON wall panels and accessories to create your own storage solutions.

Question: How long does it usually take to install my GRID IRON system?
Answer: Assuming the garage wall space has been cleared, you should be able to install any of the GRID IRON Panel System Kits in about an hour or less.

Question: Can I obtain a copy of the Installation Instructions to see what is involved before I purchase my GRID IRON products?
Answer: Yes. Installation Instructions are available as a download. Please refer to the "GRID IRON Products" section of this web site.

Question: Are GRID IRON wall panel systems attached to the wall or floor mounted?
Answer: Both. The panels fit flush against the wall and stand on two (2) legs with 2" levelers. Once the panel is leveled, the top of the panel is fastened to the wall studs with 3 - 4 screws.

Question: Can I install the GRID IRON system myself?
Answer: Yes. The average DIYer with a stud finder, level, a cordless drill and a few hand tools would find that is a very simple project. Five easy steps: 1) locate and mark the location of the studs in the area where you want to mount your GRID IRON Wall panels; 2) place the panel against the wall; 3) turn the floor adjusters on the bottom of the panel with an open end wrench until it is level; 4) fasten the top of the panel to the studs with the (4) screws provided and; 5) place and snap on the shelves, hooks and bins where you wish.

Question: Can I add more GRID IRON panels later?
Answer: Yes. The GRID IRON panels and accessories are modular - they can be added to, removed, relocated or reconfigured at any time to meet your current storage requirements.
